Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Coventry branch of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham. The Ordinariate is a new and exciting part of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales. In full communion with Roman Catholics the world over we retain an Anglican patrimony that formed us as a group during our years worshipping within the Church of England.

This website aims to be a source of news and information for people in Coventry, who are exploring, or planning to enter, the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham. Check back regularly for updates and events.  In the meantime, if you would like to register your interest in joining the Ordinariate in Coventry, please contact us by email us by clicking here.

The Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham was erected by means of a decree published on 15th January 2011 and is under the patronage of Blessed John Henry Newman, we invoke their prayers for ourselves and all those who will join the Ordinariate.

On Monday 6th June at Saint Mary's College, Oscott, Bishop David McGough, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Birmingham, ordained Fr Paul and Fr Matthew (and others who will serve Ordinariate groups within the archdiocese) to the Diaconate at the request of Monsignor Keith Newton. What a wonderfully joyful occasion it was, all the more so because of Blessed John Henry Newman's connection with Oscott and its chapel and the knowledge that he was there still through his prayers for those following in his footsteps. Thanks must go to the staff and seminarians of Oscott for organising such a beautiful Mass, for laying on such an impressive spread afterwards and for welcoming the ordinands and their families and friends so warmly. We look forward now to Fr Paul and Fr Matthew's ordination to the Priesthood on Sunday 12 June in Saint Chad's Cathedral.

"Ordination to the Priesthood"

Quite a week! On Sunday 12th June Archbishop Bernard Longley ordained Fr Paul, Fr Matthew and six others to the Catholic Priesthood to serve the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham.  We turned out in good numbers to be a part of this momentous occasion, thoroughly enjoying the beautiful Mass and the sense of new beginning for us as a group.  You can see lots of photos by following the link of the Ordination Mass, taken by Con McHugh of Saint Joseph the Worker Coventry. You can also see some photos taken by Con of Fr Paul's first Mass as a Catholic priest, a Votive Mass of Our Lady, celebrated at Saint Joseph the Worker, Coventry.

Fr Matthew celebrated his first Mass as a Catholic priest at Mater Ecclesiae convent in Monks Kirby parish.
